We are rapidly approaching the one year anniversary of Spider-Man: No Way Home, so it’s only logical to devote the 101st episode to lots of Spider-Man talk! A friend from all the way back to fifth grade, Lena Sheldon, joins the episode this week for her first ever appearance! And she brings all of her expertise on everyone’s favorite web-crawler/wall-slinger, Peter Parker/Miles Morales/Gwen Stacy/etc. We discuss the best Spider-Man portrayals we’ve ever seen on screen (movies, television, theme parks, and more included. Not comics. Sorry, Ditko.) and spend some time reminiscing on our favorites. With great podcasts come great responsibilities.

Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken us to new heights – and to new streaming services. After movies like Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Eternals, and Spider-Man: No Way Home and series like WandaVision, Loki, and Hawkeye gave us a hint as to where we’re going after Avengers: Endgame, it made complete sense to follow up on an idea from longtime guest, Ryan Foley! Making his eleventh appearance on the podcast (wowza!), Ryan joins for a LIVE! And IN PERSON podcast! We count down our top five most anticipated MCU projects, as of January 26, 2022. You know. Long before we knew about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. But we work with what we got! Love to all and Ryan!

Attraction Quotes Week rolls on as Hector Servin joins again (on a Tuesday!) to venture to the other side of the Orlando pond where the dinosaurs, wizards, superheroes, and Simpsons play together at Universal Orlando! We’ve combined Universal Studios with Islands of Adventure to go through the attraction quotes that populate the secondary central Florida theme park resort that is well on its way to equal footing with the Disney majesty. As always, Hector is a doll. His sound effects populate the Universal discussion well because when you’re there, if you’re not in a family or starring on The Tonight Show, you’re probably in a book. Miss it lots!

Street Fighter. Tekken. Marvel vs. Capcom. Mortal Kombat. Super Smash Brothers. The history of fighting video games is a rich and expansive one. As such, there have been myriad characters for users to select and do battle with against their friends. To celebrate the genre, I’ve brought in two of my friends to break down the top five fighting video game characters! Returning to the podcast is Lach and making his first appearance is Harry! They are two of the loveliest, best people you’ll ever meet, but they’re also pretty skilled at some of those aforementioned games. This was recorded on October 20, 2019, but it was so fun that I saved! For almost a whole year! Isn’t that just so sweet?

Making his fourth appearance on the podcast is the hilarious kindred spirit of mine known as Ryan Foley! Ryan might be the biggest Marvel fan I know, which makes this topic perfect for his talents. We count down our five favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, as of the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home! It is an uproariously special time of reflection on the Infinity Saga. We also talk a little about the tug-of-war between Sony and Disney over the rights to Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man. Do it up!

In this five-hour marathon of fun conversations and Marvel obsessions, over thirty characters are mentioned as Dave has assembled his own team of Avengers to rank the five best Marvel characters!

And don’t forget about Zev Behar’s movie reviews for Captain Marvel and Dumbo on The Mickey Mindset!
These Marvel films have been a special way to navigate early adulthood and late stage adolescence and teenage years and it really feels like we’ve grown with the characters as they age and develop on screen. It really is like a bond. As such, I’ve been writing a number of MCU Retrospective articles over on my notepad, Saoirse Ronan Deserves an Oscar. Feel free to check them out for more Endgame adjacent content!
