We are rapidly approaching the one year anniversary of Spider-Man: No Way Home, so it’s only logical to devote the 101st episode to lots of Spider-Man talk! A friend from all the way back to fifth grade, Lena Sheldon, joins the episode this week for her first ever appearance! And she brings all of her expertise on everyone’s favorite web-crawler/wall-slinger, Peter Parker/Miles Morales/Gwen Stacy/etc. We discuss the best Spider-Man portrayals we’ve ever seen on screen (movies, television, theme parks, and more included. Not comics. Sorry, Ditko.) and spend some time reminiscing on our favorites. With great podcasts come great responsibilities.

Top Five Pixar Movies with Ryan Foley and Kristin

Image from Moviefone

Congratulations to Stevie on winning the Twitter poll for last week’s Disney movie draft! Why not keep the good times rolling ahead of the D23 Expo this weekend with the best Pixar movies? In a nearly two year old episode, recorded after the release of Soul (hence why there’s no Turning Red, Lightyear, or Luca discussion), Ryan Foley and KL return to talk about the best cinematic offerings from one of the best animation studios to ever do it! Pixar is responsible for high quality movies and it’s nearly impossible to rank them, but if you cook up a top five, feel free to send them along! See if you can top what Ryan and I were capable of!

Top Five Movies That Teach Us About Love and Ourselves with Julianna Gallagher

From IMDB

The romance genre isn’t just about meet-cutes, serendipity, and falling in love. It’s a wide range of storytelling that includes rom-coms, musicals, and – in some cases – stories of a marriage falling apart. No matter what the story is that’s being told in a romance movie, there’s something in there that can teach us a little more about ourselves and a little more about love. That’s the expert analysis brought to the table by Julianna Gallagher, who suggested both the topic and the title! Making her second appearance on Goodbye Mello Brick Road, Julianna cements her status as an all-time great by getting in the weeds on some in-depth, thoughtful, reflective conversations about what movies have to teach us about ourselves and about our love lives. She’s one of the most incredible people on this planet so her opinions and takes will always be the most valuable a podcast like this can offer. Thanks, Julianna!

It’s been a long time without you, my friend. That is, it’s been over a year since Hobbs & Shaw came out! And we’ve had no Fast and Furious movies in the interim. How terrible! That is why the venerable Hector Servin has stopped by the podcast once again! This time, we’re going further than Fast and Furious characters by examining Fast and Furious movies! Top Five Little Women Scenes with Kate Rose and Julianna Gallagher

From The New York Times

“I want to be great or nothing.” That’s one of the driving sentiments of the 2019 adaptation of Little Women, as directed by Greta Gerwig. This also just happens to be one of the greatest movies ever made! Saoirse Ronan plays Jo, Emma Watson portrays Meg, Florence Pugh is Amy, and Eliza Scanlen brings Beth to life (and death). The whole film is just pure brilliance that appeals to literary minds, romantic hearts, and everything in between. That’s why it was imperative for me to talk with two people who have massive minds and hearts: Kate Rose and Julianna Gallagher! Kate makes her return and Julianna makes her debut to discuss Little Women, specifically the five best scenes from it! They are both such lovely people and it resulted in one of my favorite podcasts ever. The whole thing just makes the heart happy!

Top Five Movies from the Late 1980s and Early 1990s with Courtney Campbell

From The Hollywood Reporter

I am very happy to announce that Courtney Campbell is this week’s guest! Making her third appearance on the podcast, Courtney stops by to talk about her favorite movies from the late 1980s and the early 1990s. The parameters for this are loose so don’t be surprised to see some of your favorite films included! This time was an era for John Hughes comedies, high-concept sci-fis, and some of the most acclaimed fantasies! But the decades are always versatile and filled with talented filmmakers and performers. Courtney, a major lover of film, is exceedingly qualified to talk about this topic and it always makes me so happy to reconnect with her!

Top Five Songs from the Mamma Mia! Movies with Jordan Masterson

From Entertainment Weekly

Mamma Mia! and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again are two of the greatest musicals ever made! So who is better to talk about the music from these amazing films than the wonderful Jordan Masterson? Jordan and I go through our love for these movies and for ABBA as we rank the best songs from these movies. Honestly, though, my love for the songs fluctuates all the time! Since recording this, I’ve been listening to “When I Kissed the Teacher” more after Jordan’s glowing recommendation. That is the best way to describe these movies, this music, and this episode, after all. Glowing!

Top Five Movies Nominated for Best Picture Since 2009 with Nicole Mello

The Oscars are this Sunday and my sister, Nicole Mello, and I are talking about them! Therefore, a year after we discussed the Wakanda-based superhero phenomenon, Nicole rejoins the show to discuss some of our favorite movies that have been nominated for the main award in that time.
